This key position is responsible for improving and maintaining the newest and most advanced primary operations campus and over 44 remote radio communications sites. This position has responsibility for general condition, cleanliness and operation of the properties, including inspections and basic repairs.Responsibilities include but are not limited to procurement and management of custodial supplies and equipment for the facilities. This position may also perform light repair and maintenance tasks at the primary campus as well as the communication sites. This is a full time, non-exempt, non-represented position with Agency supported Oregon PERS (Pubic Employee Retirement System) which is covered by the Agency, medical, dental, and full benefits package with generous time off accruals. Ensure proper standards of cleanliness and solid building appearance by being responsible for:
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop and spot clean floors.
  • Empty trash from containers both inside and outside and change trash liners. Wash trash receptacles as needed.
  • Sanitize restroom areas and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks and drinking fountains; clean and polish mirrors, fixtures, walls, and partitions in restroom areas.
  • Dust and polish furniture; remove cobwebs; clean and/or disinfects tables, desks, whiteboards, countertops, woodwork, blinds, light fixtures and vents in classrooms and work areas; spot clean walls as needed.
  • Respond to emergency cleanups such as bodily fluids, spills, and clogged drains.
  • Perform routine cleaning of carpets and floors.
  • Wash windows on both the inside and outside, including high windows.
  • Perform major indoor and/or outdoor cleaning of walls.
  • Perform deep cleaning activities around site meetings and agency schedules.
  • Move equipment and furniture when performing above cleaning activities.
  • Perform light repair and maintenance on furniture, facilities and equipment.
2. Ensure building and personal safety by:
  • Report and remove any safety hazards.
  • Read and interpret safety labels. Understand and follow procedures to handle and store chemicals properly.
  • Maintain a log of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for assigned site(s).
  • Safely set up and use ladders, lifts, and stepstools.
  • Report any unauthorized or suspicious visitors to the Administrative Assistant/Receptionist.
3. Provide site(s) support for multiple facility sites by:
  • Keep grounds neat and clean at all times by sweeping walkways, sidewalks and other areas; may sweep, or blow debris from parking lots. Assist Facilities Department with snow removal from sidewalks and parking areas.
  • Apply and remove ice melt from sidewalks and building access areas as needed.
  • Remove trash from grounds areas as necessary.
  • Report any issues and coordinate additional trash or debris pickups with the waste disposal company.
  • Assist with and perform minor pest control management. Oversee and coordinate with Pest Control contractor.
  • Assist Facilities Department in minor plumbing, lighting, furniture assembly, fence, gate and other related repairs and painting jobs as requested.
  • Replace light bulbs.
  • Remove graffiti from fences or walls.
  • Identify and report the need for major repairs to the Facilities Supervisor; report and/or repair damage done to agency/site property.
  • Replace water bottles in dispenser locations.
  • Remove all recycling/paper materials to appropriate recycling containers for disposal or pickup. Coordinate all electronic recycling pickups with contracted vendor(s).
  • Arrange tables, chairs and equipment for meetings or events as needed.
  • Raise and lower flags as deemed by Governor's orders when on shift.
  • Assist with deliveries of supplies or agency equipment. Move pallets or boxes as required.
  • Occasionally transport and/or operate power washing equipment at the facility or radio sites as directed by Facilities Supervisor.
  • Perform routine grounds maintenance.
4. Ensure proper supply/inventory control is done by:
  • Requisition custodial supplies and equipment in a timely manner, following Agency purchasing procedures to ensure adequate supplies and levels are available to perform custodial duties.
  • Organize and store equipment and supplies in designated storage areas.
  • Rotate stock and maintain inventory of custodial items; prepare all necessary paperwork to order supplies.
  • Maintain records related to inventory and supplies.
  • Refill all supplies, dispensers, and paper products in restrooms and lunch/break rooms; distribute requested supplies to staff.
5. Ensure conduct, work methods and work environment are free of safety hazards for themselves, fellow employees, and the public and report any identified hazard(s) to a supervisor or to the Safety Committee. 6. Perform other duties as assigned. Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities are considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be direct training in a Custodial or Janitorial position combined with increasing responsibility and experience.No disqualifying criminal history. Licensing and Certification
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Complete and maintain appropriate Criminal Justice Information Service certification (Agency will provide all necessary training and materials).
  • Complete and maintain any additional certifications or Agency-provided training required to use agency equipment or to perform all duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Previous demonstrated experience with record keeping for supply inventories and task tracking.
  • Possess knowledge of cleaning solutions and mathematical calculations of mixing ratios. Possess detailed knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures.
  • Ability to operate basic hand and power tools and outdoor maintenance equipment such as chain saws, leaf blowers, come-along, winches, lifts and related equipment.
  • Ability to use and operate powered cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, carpet machines, etc.
  • Use of personal computers and their operating systems such as Windows and software applications such as Microsoft Office to communicate via email or to create simple spreadsheets for inventory tracking.
  • Ability to safely operate agency vehicles and the ability to safely tow and back small trailers (i.e. power washer).
  • Ability to work assigned on-call weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively. Ability to collaborate and work as a team to accomplish WCCCA's agency needs and requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule work based on changing circumstances.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; maintain clear and accurate inventory and work records.

Physical Demands Walk, climb, stoop, stand for extended periods of time; lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds is frequent; use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of finger dexterity; operate a motor vehicle; work for sustained periods of time, occasionally work in confined spaces, must meet basic physical requirements of the job and basic physical health that provides the stamina to perform the duties of the position for long periods of time. Work is sometimes conducted outside, in the physical elements with extreme heat and extreme cold. Overtime is needed on occasion to meet the needs of the position.
