Job Title: Custodian
Location: McKinney, TX

We provide job training, employment placement services, and other community-based programs by selling donated clothing and household items in our retail stores.
Job Summary: Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas is seeking a reliable and dedicated Custodian to maintain cleanliness and organization in our retail store. The ideal candidate will ensure that all areas, including the sales floor, restrooms, and employee spaces, are clean, sanitary, and safe for both customers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
- Empty trash and recycling bins in sales and employee areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and replenishing supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness in public and back-of-house areas, including storage rooms and offices.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, reporting damages).
- Follow safety protocols and handle cleaning supplies in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain and organize custodial supplies and equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with staff and customers.
Qualifications:
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, buffers).
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.
- Repetitive motion tasks such as sweeping and mopping.
- Ability to operate cleaning machinery.
Work Environment:
- Retail store environment with high customer traffic.
- May require working in both indoor and outdoor spaces.
