SUMMARYReporting to the Director of Facilities, this position is responsible for maintaining a clean working environment of all building and campus areas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains cleanliness of clients' rooms, launders towels and bedding.
  • Cleans all other Residence area rooms and use areas, including floors, rugs, windows, wall surfaces, furniture dusting and polishing, restrooms, break areas, and handles trash removal.
  • Performs and assists in restorative cleaning of Residence areas, operates auto-scrubbers, buffers and other janitorial equipment.
  • Assists with maintaining janitor closet and storage areas in Residence, Kennel and Administrative buildings.
  • Maintains Residence lounge area.
  • Maintains stock of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Assists with maintaining the grounds as needed.
  • Changes light bulbs, paints and performs minor repairs.
  • Assists in moving furniture as needed.
  • Performs necessary maintenance cleaning for Administration building.
  • Cleans all offices, restrooms, public areas and vet clinic in Kennel building.
  • Works with volunteers on special projects.
  • Coordinates with Residential Services to ensure availability of rooms for clients and other guests.
  • Maintains cleanliness of facilities including floors, rugs, windows, wall surfaces, furniture, restrooms, break areas, trash removal, dog waste removal and public use areas.
  • Assists other Facilities team members as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated work experience or some college course work strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Experience in basic cleaning and maintenance.
  • Understanding of proper and safe use of cleaning equipment, chemicals and products.
  • Possess good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and shifts as assigned.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines; must have the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Possess sound business judgment, exercise professional conduct, understand and follow business ethics and standards, and maintain a high level of confidentiality in all duties.
  • Proficient in latest version of Microsoft Office products.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with no restrictions and the ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to effectively use general hand tools and operate a fork lift or motorized pallet jack in a safe manner.
  • Comfortable with and willing to work around large dogs.
  • Ability to work with blind and visually impaired clients with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Willing to perform general public relations duties on behalf of Leader Dog (perform tours, answer general questions, be a professional and courteous representative of Leader Dog, etc.).
  • Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive and courteous interactions with employees that promote positive teamwork, as well as with volunteers, donors, clients and all constituents of Leader Dog. This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.
