It is important for a custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building.
- Takes out trash and cardboard boxes
- Sweeps and mops floors and vacuums carpets
- Maintains cleanliness of restrooms, break rooms and entryways.
- Clean and disinfect desks, work areas, and common spaces daily.
- Cleans mirrors, doors, and windows
- Maintains a neat and orderly janitor's room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
- Performs maintenance and minor repairs (changing HVAC filters, fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.)
- Assist with special cleaning projects as required.
Requirements Required Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
- Ability to keep the facility clean and orderly.
- Ability to interact with staff and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.
Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of cleaning products and safety protocols.
- Must pass a background check.
- Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods standing, walking and sitting.
- Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
- Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident (due to company contracts falling under the ITAR).
