Salary: $27,916.00 Annually Location : Lillington, NC Job Type: Full-Time Regular Job Number: FAC 2144 Department: Facilities Management Opening Date: 12/10/2024 Closing Date: 12/26/2024 5:00 PM Eastern POSITION SUMMARYPOSITION SUMMARY: An employee in this position performs manual labor involving custodial and maintenance tasks at a variety of Harnett County buildings. Work includes: cleaning floors, windows, and bathrooms; replacing simple bulbs and paper supplies; checking building security; and performing routine grounds maintenance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Performs general custodial services as assigned; cleans offices and restrooms of the building by vacuuming/shampooing carpets, dusting, sweeping, mopping and/or buffing floors, wiping down tables, sanitizing counter tops, emptying trash; and cleaning glass doors and windows.
- Replenishes paper supplies and soap in break rooms and restrooms as necessary.
- Maintains inventory and prepares orders for janitorial cleaning and chemical supplies.
- Moves furniture and equipment as required; sets-up and assembles chairs, tables, and other furniture and equipment for meetings, special events, and activities; cleans up furniture, equipment, and debris following these events.
- Follows established daily cleaning schedule.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Sweeps outside areas, sidewalks, and parking lot.
- Locks and unlocks buildings.
- May defrost and clean refrigerators and clean kitchens.
- Operates and cleans County vehicles.
- Raises and lowers flags.
- Must be able to drive and operate a vehicle to travel as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- No experience required but some custodial work experience preferred;
- Or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license (depending on assignment).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in janitorial work.
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned work.
- Skill in communicating, clearly and effectively with people inside and outside the organization using verbal and written methods.
- Skill in using equipment and tools for custodial duties.
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees, and the public.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply operating policies and procedures.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONPHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to perform light work frequently exerting up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; and occasionally requiring to exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects. This work also involves the physical abilities of crouching, grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, kneeling, lifting, having manual dexterity, pulling, pushing, reaching, performing repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, and walking. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to operate equipment such as vacuum cleaners or small trucks. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee is subject to working in both inside and outside environments and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, and human body fluids and thus is subject to OSHA requirements on bloodborne pathogens.
