Job DetailsJob LocationCity of Brookhaven - Brookhaven, GASalary Range$16.07 - $18.00 HourlyCustodianJOB SUMMARYUnder the general direction of the Park Operations Manager, the employee will keep City buildings clean and in orderly condition, performing minor maintenance; setting up training functions, and maintaining grounds. This is housekeeping and janitorial work in cleaning, dusting, and maintaining the general office units. for the City's, Parks department. This is an entry-level position.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:This section of the job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties and responsibilities of the position. The omission of a specific job function does not absolve an employee from being required to perform additional tasks incidental to or inherent in the job.Cleans offices and meeting room chambers, lobbies, restrooms, elevators, stairways, and other work areas.Sets up meeting room chambers and conference rooms & gymnasiums for scheduled events.Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and vacuums floors. Cleans rugs, carpets, and window coverings.Dust furniture and equipment as required. Polishes metalwork and washes mirrors.Empties trash and garbage containers; transport trash and waste to disposal area.Cleans, washes and disinfects drinking fountains.Performs and/or reports the need for minor maintenance repairs.Cleans kitchen sinks and counters.Replenishes restroom supplies and maintains an adequate supply of cleaning materials and supplies.Maintains storage and cleaning equipment, materials, and supplies in a safe and orderly manner.Transports supplies, equipment, and applicable correspondence between City offices.Maintains a timely and accurate schedule.Notifies supervisor concerning the need for supplies, major repairs, or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.Cleans sidewalks and grounds, removing debris and litter.Performs other related duties as may be assigned.Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.Performs other related duties as required or assigned.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Previous municipal custodial experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the required knowledge, ability, and skills.CERTIFICATIONS:Ability to pass a criminal background checkA valid Georgia Driver's License is required upon appointmentQualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, an effective and courteous attitude in dealing with co-workers, other departments, and the public.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.Ability to maintain a vehicle in clean, proper working order.Knowledge of Brookhaven geography and the location of all Park & Recreation facilities.Ability to read a City map.Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment.Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.Skill in operating vacuum cleaners, floor washers, buffers, and related cleaning equipment.Ability to read and understand labels, instructions, use, and application of cleaning chemicals and products.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the general public.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
