DETAILS:
  • 8 hours, 5 days per week.
  • Liberty High School Building Afternoon (PM), as needed in and around district buildings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Thorough knowledge of custodial procedures.
  • Ability to perform work in accordance with job description.
  • Physically capable of performing cleaning duties that may include, but are not limited to, lifting, moving heavy objects, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in essential functions of the position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful BCI/FBI checks.
DUTIES:
  • Perform general custodial duties related to the general appearance, cleanliness, and operations of the buildings and immediate exterior.
  • Perform such duties as shall be assigned, which are necessary to the safety, health, and general welfare of the students and employees of the district
RATE OF PAY:
  • Per current negotiated salary schedule.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
  • Building Principals/Superintendent/Maintenance Supervisor
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Report to Building Principal/Asst. Principal/Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms/bathrooms/classrooms/halls/offices & common areas using established practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper procedures for handling bodily fluids and blood borne pathogens.
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors and carpeted areas; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
  • Use ladders when required in work assignments.
  • Ability to lift heavy items (i.e.: 50# bag of rock salt).
  • Assist with the set up of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
  • Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, windows, furniture, etc.
  • Wash walls and equipment.
  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use products as directed and intended.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs.
  • Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools.
  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds. Launder cleaning rags and dust mops.
  • Dispose of trash/garbage to outside dumpster.
  • Attend to emergencies when necessary.
  • Attend safety meeting and other related meetings.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and techniques and new products.
  • Handle recycling materials.
  • Generate work orders as needed.
  • Assist with inventory control and security.
  • Safely operate vehicles and other job related equipment.
  • Report presence of animals, vermin, and insects to supervisor.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and guidelines as listed on MSDS sheets.
  • Report any health and/or safety hazards to coordinator.
  • Position involves standing for long periods of time as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing, etc.
  • Support and enforce all policies, governmental such as OSHA, and safety regulations & guidelines, etc.
  • Enforce and support policies established by the Administration and the Board of Education.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Coordinator/Principal/Superintendent.
