This position is considered essential personnel and will require storm duty and emergency call-outs.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Helps the area supervisors, supervisor and lead person when responding to emergency situations during and after hours.Emergency situations may include;property damage, personal injury, water leaks, flooding, overflowing restroom fixtures, broken window or door glass, and accidents resulting in the appearance of bodily fluids (blood, vomit waste, and urine).Must be able to showknowledge on the following types of equipment: auto scrubbers, buffers,dry vacuum and wet vacuum.Sweep, mop, and scrubfloors; dust and clean surfaces; washes windows, walls, blinds, trashcans, air conditioning grills, and glass doors.Cleans rooms, replenishes supplies, andcleans drinking fountain in assigned buildings.Cleans and polishes as needed, emptiestrash inside and outside, and sweeps entrances, outside steps, andsidewalk.Cleans windows, doorareas, and stairwells.Clean otherarea as assigned.Cleans large public areassuch as lobbies, study rooms and chapter rooms.Cleans areas used for special events inthe residence halls.Following the directionsof the area supervisors, supervisor and lead person.Performs other duties asassigned.Minimum QualificationsHighSchool diploma or general education degree (GED) or 6 months of relatedexperience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education andexperience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures, professional standards and regulations.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures, and the use of custodial materials, tools, equipment, and chemicals.
- Skill in managing ones' own time while completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to listen to, understand, and follow instructions.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and the ability to react and respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
- Ability to operate personal computer with a general understanding of application software, and an understanding of the internet.
- Ability to obtain a driver's license prior to employment.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Preferred QualificationsPrefer 2 years of work related experience.
