Job Summary: To perform custodial work to ensure the cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of the facility, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors. The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.. Qualifications: To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills and/or ability necessary.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to properly use all types of commercial vacuum cleaners, stripping and buffing machines, lawn mowers, snow plows, and any special tool or piece of equipment assigned for the performance of duties.
  • Ability to use hand tools (e.g., hammer, shovel, screwdriver) and power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill, pneumatic hammer).
  • Sufficient mathematic skills, site and dexterity to properly use and dilute cleaning chemicals and floor finishes.
  • Knowledgeable of safety regulations, proper methods for using and storing cleaning chemical and floor finishes and procedures for working in areas with asbestos containing materials.
  • Ability to operate equipment (e.g., tractor, lift, auto-scrubber).
  • Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, lift and/or exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, lift and/or exert up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Ability to perform tasks at different height levels and in hard to reach places (e.g., ladders, scaffolding, crawl spaces, attics).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff, students, parents, and the public in a professional manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state vehicle operator's license and a good driving record.

Duties & Responsibilities: (Abbreviated - Please review the attached job descriptions for more details on this specific opportunity)
  • Performs general cleaning and maintenance tasks including but not limited to:
    • Restocking and Cleaning
      • Restock supplies in all bathrooms, ensuring availability of soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other essentials.
      • Wipe off dispensers and clean the tops of panels to maintain hygiene and appearance.
      • Clean and sanitize all bathroom fixtures, mirrors, and surfaces.
    • Glass and Entryways Maintenance
      • Clean glass on all entry doors to maintain a clear, welcoming appearance.
      • Dust and vacuum vestibules, ensuring a clean entryway for visitors and staff.
    • Trash Removal
      • Pull trash from the warehouse and other designated areas, ensuring proper disposal in designated locations in accordance with policy.
    • Staff and Meeting Areas
      • Clean and organize Staff A and B rooms, including vacuuming, emptying trash, and wiping tables.
      • Reset tables and chairs for future meetings when possible.
    • Hallways and Offices
      • Dust hallways and ensure a tidy appearance throughout the facility.
      • Dust and vacuum offices, ensuring a clean and organized work environment for staff and visitors.
    • Faculty Rooms
      • Clean and sanitize faculty rooms, including surfaces, appliances, and trash disposal
  • Dilutes chemicals and cleaning fluids as required to properly clean and/or sanitize.
  • Performs the work described herein without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself or others. Constantly required to demonstrate good judgment and safety precautions.
  • Performs limited maintenance tasks, including minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, ventilating repairs, minor equipment maintenance, climbing ladders, and painting.
  • Uses proper safety procedures and complies with all safety regulations, especially relating to use of cleaning chemicals, hazardous work conditions and weather conditions. (Some duties may require protective clothing and equipment.)
  • Monitors and report any alarm issues, such as burglar or fire alarms, in accordance with building procedure notification list.
  • Works such additional hours and days as may be assigned to complete functions on a timely basis.
  • Performs all other tasks necessary to enable the employee to perform the essential functions set forth in this job description.
  • Executes all applicable policies and directives of the School Board.
  • Adapts to scheduled shift changes that will occur throughout the year to accommodate summer restoration, training, and group activities.
