POSITION: Customer Service Rep

Location: Salinas, California

Salary: $20.00 - $28.00 – Full Time

SUMMARY

To be the daily connection between our business and our customers. Work and manage customer related issues including order processing, generating accurate estimates and quotes, addressing all customer inquiries and complaints, reconciling daily production, providing accurate and timely inventories, and working with the manufacturing plant regarding forecasts, productions, and more.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process purchase orders on a timely basis for customer needs and production schedules.
  • Update and provide any required customer reports routinely.
  • Help manage inventory and warehouse items, providing data and insight regarding availability of stock, slow moving, and fast moving items.
  • Provide Order Confirmations, PODs, COAs, and other reports to customers.
  • Attend team, office, and plant meetings when directed.
  • Manage and maintain the inventory levels on all required inventoried items.
  • Handle customer complaints, questions, and follow-up with appropriate internal/external personnel as required, which may include members of the management team.
  • Maintain customer files.
  • Process new items, collecting completed New Item Checklist (NIC) documentation and implementing NIC meetings for approval before new items can be produced.
  • Submit paperwork for tooling (cutting die/print plates) to be ordered by the Tooling Coordinator.
  • Record and distribute customer order changes.
  • Coordinate accounting credit forms for approval.
  • Process paperwork for quality related issues.
  • Assist sales personnel as needed on customer accounts.
  • Adhere to the daily machine schedule, making recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
  • Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between plant and customer.
  • Develop working relationships with all other plant department employees/managers.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety programs and good housekeeping.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years' experience in agriculture produce (strawberries preferred).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the corrugated container industry.
  • Computer literate (MS Excel, MS Word, Gmail, and operational software specific to our company).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Excellent communication skills. Must be comfortable talking on the telephone regularly.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as sales, business, and performance reports, operating and maintenance instructions, training and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write business reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to make decisions and/or carry out instructions furnished in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to solve a variety of problems and deal with situations where limited information or standardization exists.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task daily.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, proportions, and volumes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
  • The employee is sometimes required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and work with computer screens.
