Job Summary

The CSR is a branch banking employee who performs the duties of a teller, Customer Service Associate (CSA), and loan assistant as needed. They provide prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers, involving the receipt and payment of cash, opening new accounts, and responding to customers' needs with suggestions appropriate to the Bank's products and services. The CSR follows established policies and procedures for these duties, in accordance with compliance requirements and the supervisor's direction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent service to customers in person or by phone. Explain various services and products available and assist with selection. Open all types of new accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, savings bonds, safety deposit boxes, etc. Close accounts as needed.
  • Accept checks for cashing, receive checking and related accounts, accept deposits, verify cash and endorsements, make change, and issue receipts. Receive savings deposits, pay withdrawals after verifying balance and signature, and redeem U.S. Savings Bonds. Accept tax deposits and various utility payments. Process credit card cash advances.
  • Assist customers with loan applications, receive loan payments, enter new loans, build loan files, verify collateral insurance, assist with late payment collections, and process paid-out loans. Sell money orders, cashier's checks, cash advances, and other Bank services. Accept applications and issue U.S. Savings Bonds.
  • Process night deposits and mail-in deposits. Maintain proper cash levels in drawers, balance drawers daily, keep cash secure, and maintain a high level of safety for the Bank. Service ATMs according to schedule or need. Accept stop payment requests and address and other changes, distributing them to the proper personnel for processing.
  • Complete Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) as needed.
  • Assist in balancing the vault and ordering and verifying incoming and outgoing money shipments. Ship and receive money from other branches.
  • Assist with training new employees and locating errors or outages.
  • Assist customers with safety deposit box access.
  • Process orders for checks, ATMs, and debit cards. Produce and process customer correspondence.
  • Research customer problems and relay solutions. Utilize account imaging and microfiche as needed. Resolve customer disputes with debit card or account transactions.
  • Help customers understand charges to accounts; may assist customers with balancing checkbooks or explaining NSF charges.
  • May process branch time records for payroll.
  • Maintain accurate and current signature cards.
  • Participate in a team effort to cross-sell bank and affiliate services. May perform customer calls.
  • Complete all required training.
  • May prepare monthly and quarterly reports.
  • May wire money for customers.
  • May supervise tellers at the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of banking, cash handling, retail, and/or customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of secondary education and experience is preferred.
