Job Description:

The B.E.S.T. Lives Center (BLC) seeking to hire an experienced customer service representative who reports to the Executive Director. The customer service representative connects students and internal and external constituents to personnel and/or services offered by BLC. This specialist will be trained on all systems used by students, faculty, staff, administrators and visitors so that direct assistance can be readily provided through one-on-one and small group interactions at the front desk of the BLC.

Our mission is to provide innovative and transformative educational opportunities that positively enhance life chances by preparing formerly incarcerated, former foster care, military-affiliated, and adult learners to enter a robust, technologically advanced workforce in South Carolina and beyond.

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILTIES

* Serves as the primary point of contact between the staff members and internal/external clients to ensure prompt and appropriate service for each client

* Facilitates clients' utilization of services in the BLC by providing direct assistance

* Performs administrative duties and supports the work of the Center as determined by the Executive Director of the B.E.S.T. Lives Center

* Assists in preparing and maintaining reports and data for the Department of Labor Grant

* Maintains calendar, schedules meetings, answers phone calls, drafts correspondence, maintains hard copy and electronic filing systems and handles mail

* Arranges logistics for appointments, meetings, and events of the BLC

* Prepares presentations and other materials

* Supervises student workers

* Manages social media postings for the BLC

* Performs calculations and compiles pertinent data required for budgetary and fiscal reports; assists in the preparation of budgets and the allocation of program funds, and timelines

* Composes correspondence

* Reviews material, supply and equipment requisitions and prepares expense vouchers

* Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

* Two years of college supplemented by at least two years of progressively responsible clerical and administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of training or experience

* Excellent consumer service skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Attention to detail and superior organizational skills

* Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), and familiarity with Internet research

* Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously

* Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload

* Ability to work well under pressure

* Ability to work and interact with the general public and college personnel

* Must possess a commitment to the mission and vision of the College and the B.E.S.T. Lives Center.

* Must be able to be cleared as a volunteer with South Carolina Department of Corrections to assist with the Second Chance Pell Program.
