Job Description:

*The following is from my friend, Casey Conerly of Conerly Productions.* As a communications and for the past 25 years, I have helped numerous small businesses tell their stories to the world. Most companies understand the importance of developing and presenting a consistent and positive image. But there is one area they tend to overlook; and thats the importance of engaging a professional voice talent for their phone system. More and more businesses are using auto attendants, voicemail and voice prompts to direct customers through their company phone system. Large corporations and IVR developers realize the phone recordings play a large role in impressing customers and bolstering their image.

The following are a few tips I like to share with my clients when it comes to presenting a professional impression from that very first phone call.

* Your companys image is on the line as soon as your phone rings. Dont make the mistake of thinking it doesnt matter who records your phone greetings. The voice on your phone system represents your company. Its often the first impression your customer will have of your business.

* A properly recorded phone greeting can make a positive impression on your callers and could make the difference between getting a sale or not. Callers are more apt to place confidence in a company or phone interaction when the phone presence is confident, clear and professional.

* Your small business can sound larger. As a growing business you want your customers to have confidence in your abilities. Professionally recorded greetings will give your customers the confidence to do business with you.

* Engage a . Ensure your voice mail system is recorded professionally in a studio, with no distracting noises such as the hustle and bustle of a busy office, or the regional accent of an employee doing the recording. Remember, your customers are listening. Your voice mail system is often the first impression potential customers have of you and your business make it a positive one for the world to hear!

Today, I'm blessed to be celebrating my 50th birthday. Hoooooooah! The good Lord has blessed me with a wonderful mother, whose love and compassion is second only to her love and devotion to me and my beloved, younger sister, Melissa and her three daughters - Marissa, Emily and Miss Jada; and now, two great grandchildren - Kayden and Zavien.

As I compose this short post, I feel obligated to reflect upon those who have the most meaning and value in my life. It goes without saying that the love of my family is first and foremost in my mind; for, without them, I would not be the man I am today.

I have enjoyed the benefits of close friendships and memorable conversations with many who have been a part of my life - even if at a distance for most of it. I have friends and schoolmates from Audubon Elementary, Rock Island High School and Knox College. From the teachers and professors, girlfriends and boyfriends, fraternity brothers, Army buddies and , I thank you all for helping to shape and mold me. You see, without each of your contributions, most positive and a few negative, I have learned to remain focused in my goals to be a loyal son, reliable brother, compassionate friend and devoted American patriot.

I am proud to admit that I am a corn fed white boy from America's Land of Lincoln living a modest and humble life in Florida because, it seems, that is God's purpose. I'm good with his plan, as this path has a funny way of bringing some of the most treasured relationships into my universe.

Last, but not least, thank you to all of the fine men and women who enrich my life through our shared commitment in our Catholic Faith. A special shout out to my Catholic Home, , and all the non-judgmental parishioners who accept me as a man who is faithful to his God and the 10 Commandments while finding valuable ways to volunteer my time in our local community.

Faith is embedded in the history, spirit, and soul of our Nation. On Religious Freedom Day, we celebrate the many faiths that make up our country, and we commemorate the 233rd anniversary of the passing of a State law that has shaped and secured our cherished legacy of religious liberty.

Our forefathers, seeking refuge from religious persecution, believed in the eternal truth that freedom is not a gift from the government, but a sacred right from Almighty God. On the coattails of the American Revolution, on January 16, 1786, the Virginia General Assembly passed the Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom. This seminal bill, penned by Thomas Jefferson, states that, all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities. Five years later, these principles served as the inspiration for the First Amendment, which affirms our right to choose and exercise faith without government coercion or reprisal.

Today, Americans from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds remain steadfast in a commitment to the inherent values of faith, honesty, integrity, and patriotism. Our Constitution and laws guarantee Americans the right not just to believe as they see fit, but to freely exercise their religion. Unfortunately, not all have recognized the importance of religious freedom, whether by threatening tax consequences for particular forms of religious speech, or forcing people to comply with laws that violate their core religious beliefs without sufficient justification. No American whether a nun, nurse, baker, or business owner should be forced to choose between the tenets of faith or adherence to the law.

The United States is also the paramount champion for religious freedom around the world, because we do not believe that conscience rights are only for Americans. The free exercise of religion is a source of personal and national stability, and its preservation is essential to protecting human dignity. Religious diversity strengthens our communities and promotes tolerance, respect, understanding, and equality. Faith breathes life and hope into our world. We must diligently guard, preserve, and cherish this unalienable right.

A friend of mine, while shooting a pistol qualification course to comply with LEOSA (Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act) requirements, reminded me of the importance of reestablishing our right to self-protection.

While shooting the course, with his long-since-retired police officer issued firearm, he was reminded of how disingenuous it is for elected Representatives , many of whom have never even handled a firearm, to create nearly insurmountable legal obstacles for us to obtain one. I'm growing tired of living under the dark clouds of legislative and regulatory raindrops battering my face and evaporating my liberties. These men and women in elected office are not angels, they have not been gifted with anything more than the ability to get elected. A renaissance of liberty is in order.

Gun owners are regularly presented with this particular question and some are now speaking out. Using popular smartphone application , many Second Amendment enthusiasts have turned to the social network to explain to others why they carry a firearm. Whisper guarantees its users absolute privacy and, as a result, many of the resulting confessions are powerful and raw.
