The Mexico Customs Leader is responsible to facilitate the company's trade compliance program through effective policies, procedures, training, assessments, audits and practices within Mexico. The position will report to our Legal Counsel, Mexico and to our Global Compliance Director, Associate General Counsel Trade .

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

* The role encompasses the development and facilitation of a comprehensive trade compliance program. This includes the implementation of robust policies, procedures, and training initiatives, alongside systematic assessments and audits, to ensure regulatory adherence within Mexico's various entities and business segments

* Responsible for developing all aspects of the CTPAT program in Mexico

* Develop and supervise international sanctions program alongside regional trade managers

* Partnering with segment teams to effectively support the local implementation of trade compliance related processes, as needed

* Drive continuous improvement via monitoring and assessments including annual reviews and collaborate with segments to define corrective action as the need arises to follow compliance measures

* Drive trade compliance integration efforts for newly acquired businesses within Mexico

* Collaborate with segment businesses to identify training needs and conduct training sessions

* Plan, coordinate, and execute Mexico regional risk assessments to evaluate organizations people/resources and processes

* Mitigate company risk and improve compliance outcomes in Mexico by advising collaborators on the critical risk and success factors for customs processes

* Administer the different Mexico trade promotion programs and authorized certifications, including IMMEX, PROSEC, Rule 8, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), Drawback, Fiscal Deposit and VAT/IEPS Certification

* Supervise compliance with the IMMEX regime, while designing the processes of incorporation into such regime seeking the best conditions of time, costs and legal compliance

* Coordinate and connect with Mexican Customs Brokers and Customs Forwarders in the United States

* Supervise and assess impact of local and global customs changes and related laws and regulations, ability to summarize and provide guidance to mitigate risk (e.g., USMCA and other Mexico FTAs, Forced Labor, US 301 Tariffs, Supply Chain Security, etc.)

* Provide expertise on complex import-export compliance matters and engage with Mexican Customs authorities on critical issues

* Act as the legal representative of Mexico's legal entity before the government authorities, chambers and related associations in acts and formalities related to foreign trade operations and legal procedures.

YOU HAVE:

* Licensed in Law in Foreign Trade, Finance, International Business or similar

* 10+ years of experience with Mexico trade compliance, including strong experience with IMMEX/Maquiladora requirements

* Previous experience in export controls rules in Mexico and the Americas, as well as customs regimes, harmonized tariff schedules, customs valuation, free trade programs and import VAT rules

* Proficient understanding about global sanctions programs, including those maintained by the U.S.

* Proficient experience required in USMCA, Free Trade Zones, Incoterms, Supply Chain Trusted Trader Programs like C-TPAT, AEO, Anti-Dumping Duties, Import Permits, NOMs, other)

* Strong communications skills written and verbally in Spanish and English

* Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally

* Experience with ERPs ( JDE , preferred)

* US Visa in order, preferred.
