Description: The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant assumes responsibility and accountability for the delivery of appropriate physical therapy services within a framework of Interdisciplinary collaboration and consultation. Services are furnished under the supervision of a qualified Licensed Physical Therapist. Essential Functions: 1. Administers the physical therapy treatment plan as developed by the Physical Therapist. 2. Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction heat, light, cold, water and electrical modalities to patients. 3. Accurately documents daily, weekly or monthly records of clients' status. Submits clinical paperwork to the office on time each week. 4. Attends educational meetings and coordinates and contributes to department in-services. 5. Notifies physical therapist, Clinical Manager or Branch/Clinical Director of any equipment failures, lack of supplies, staff or client changes and any other departmental changes. 6. Schedules clients and performs varied office tasks. 7. Applies concepts of infection control and universal precautions in performing patient care activities. 8. Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients. 9. Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediaries and/or other third party payors, through education, coaching and other assistance as necessary. 10. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 1. Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills. 2. Comprehensive knowledge of the physical, emotional, social and biological changes that occur in the geriatric population. 3. Self-directed, enthusiastic and accepts constructive feedback. 4. Maintains current licensure certifications and meets mandatory continuing education requirements. 5. Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency. 6. Ability to work flexible schedule and travel locally. 7. Ability to maintain confidentiality. 8. Demonstrated ability to work independent and cooperatively as an effective team member. 9. Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho social needs. 10. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. 11. Must read, write and speak fluent English.
