The analyst will be embedded with the National Cyber Forensic Training Alliance (NCFTA) providing investigators with analysis of threat actors, criminal techniques, and identification of suspects.What you will do: •Financial Investigations Research: Perform database checks and query NCFTA Financial Industry partners related to USPIS investigations. •Technical Indicator Research: Utilize NCFTA resources to research suspect IP addresses, email addresses, or nicknames (monikers). •Merchandise Reshipping Support: Research addresses of suspected re-shipper/freight forwarder/work at home mules utilizing NCFTA data resources and partner organizations. •Cyber Intelligence - Black Market Internet Analysis: Analyze case information from investigators and produce an intelligence report containing findings developed by the Cyber and Analytics group's analyst and analysts from NCFTA, which may be used to facilitate the identification, disruption and dismantling, of individuals and organizations using the mail to facilitate black market internet trade. •Case enrichment: Identify trends, patterns, and connections to established cases based on onsite public/private information including consumer complaints, NCFTA partner and analytical intelligence.•Cyber Financial Program (NCFTA Program) Initiatives: Actively engage with and monitor topics discussed within the NCFTA Cyber Financial program (CyFin) to identify valuable information for current cases or something new that could be referred to field investigators to enhance investigations, such as:o Common Point of Purchase o Securities Fraudo Business Email Compromiseo Synthetic ID Theft/Fraudo Crypto and Digital Currency Paymentso Account Abuse, Intrusion, and Money Launderingo Skimming•NCFTA's Internet Fraud Alert (IFA) System: Utilize the IFA system (alerts on compromised domains, emails, payment cards, and reporting of stolen credentials) to identify potential leads for new and ongoing USPIS cases. Minimum Qualifications & Skills: •Minimum of 5 years of experience in a law enforcement intelligence unit environment. •General knowledge of federal statutes;•Ability to analyze financial information, conduct analysis, conduct research; •Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;•Proficiency conducting research on the internet and commercial as well as public databases;•Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direct supervision;•Experience supporting the preparation of a final work product; •Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and SharePoint. Clearance: Applicants selected may be subject to a government background investigation and may be required to meet the following conditions of employment.Security Requirements/Background Investigation Requirements: •Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.•Favorable credit check for all cleared positions •Successfully passing a background investigation including drug screening.Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:•Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees.
