Job Description We are looking for a dedicated and meticulous Cybersecurity Specialist to join our growing Systems Security team. In this role, you will operate independently and as part of a team to ensure our software, hardware, network, and related components are protected from cyberattacks. This will include selecting and configuring security tools, analyzing Averitt's systems for vulnerabilities, assessing,and responding to various cyber risks, and handling daily cyber related tasks in an efficient and effective manner. Candidates should have strong IT skills, an interest in cyber security in general, be detailed and analytical, and be comfortable researching and learning new things while working at a fast pace. The ability to take ownership over tasks and projects is a major plus. We want individuals that have a desire to continue to grow in their depth and breadth of cyber knowledge, and we provide training and opportunities to support that growth. ** Must currently reside within 50 miles of Cookeville, TN ** About the position:
  • Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.
  • You will not be expected to perform all the tasks mentioned below but will be utilized where your skills are best suited. Some of the primary responsibilities include:
  • Monitor, configure, and maintain security tools such as:
    • Email Filtering, Endpoint Detection and Response, Firewall,Web Filtering, IDR/SIEM, Network Access Control, Threat Intelligence, Vulnerability Management, MFA, and more.
  • Deploy/oversee User Awareness Training and phishing campaigns.
  • Assess vulnerabilities and determine risk in our internal and customer-facing systems.
  • Create and update cyber security and governance policies utilizing frameworks and controls like CIS and NIST and ensure our general compliance with various standards.
  • Work with various internal departments to help them mitigate and remediate various vulnerabilities and areas of risk.
  • Participate in application and penetration testing along with 3rd party vendors.
  • Help conduct vendor due diligence assessments.
  • Vet the security implications of requests from internal associates and departments and provide recommendations and best practices.
  • Work with other team members but be able to handle day-to-day tasks independently and take ownership over projects and tasks.
  • Utilize Jira and other ticketing systems to manage your work and provide updates.
  • Play an integral part of rolling out new cybersecurity tools and building them from the ground up.
  • Contribute to our goal as a team to proactively protect our associates, software, hardware, and related components from cyberthreats.

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other IT related field is preferred, but is NOT required
  • Detail oriented, a critical thinker and problem solver are a plus
