SUMMARY

As a Cytotechnologist, your developed examination and evaluation skills are key factors in identifying disease in gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides, leading to critical discovery for patient care.

DEPARTMENT:Cytology Labs

SCHEDULE:Monday - Friday, Days | 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

ATTRIBUTES

• Bachelor's in Cytotechnology
• New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Cytotechnologist.
• Certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) preferred, but not required
• Previous experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory a benefit, but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Specimen&Equipment Management.Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens by microscope; document results on worksheets and in the laboratory information system; assist with fine needle aspirations, specimen preparation and staining; maintain cytology workload records
• Leadership.Make suggestions to improve work methods and efficiency, reduce costs and solve operational problems; promote and support a positive team environment; participate in the planning and accomplishment of goals and objectives
• General Maintenance.Perform and document routine maintenance on microscope(s) and quality control rescreening if qualified

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
