RESPONSIBLE TO: General ManagerSUPERVISES: MLS NEXT Pro Assistant CoachesSTATUS: Full-TimeCOMPANY BACKGROUNDThe Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club's brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS), Houston Dash (NWSL), Houston Dynamo 2 (MLS NEXT Pro), Houston Dynamo Academy (MLS NEXT), Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park.The Dynamo has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and U.S. Open Cup championships (2018, 2023). The Dynamo are focused on building championship caliber teams, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through sport and community outreach while creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.PURPOSE OF THE JOBThis role will be the Head Coach of HD2 of the MLS NEXT Pro league.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1) On Field Coaching•Attend all Second Team training sessions•Assist First Team Head Coach with individual and group instruction2) Training Session Development•Manage daily meetings of Second Team coaching staff•Manage process of designing and implementing training sessions to teach our game model•Review video of training sessions on a daily basis3) Game Evaluation•Review Previous Team game with attention to progress of high potential players and implementation of club's game model4) Coordinate integration of High Potential Players into Second Team plans•Attend weekly meetings with Executive Staff to discuss high potential players•Coordinate daily player movement among First Team, MLS NEXT Pro, and Academy training sessions•Discuss high potential player performance in First Team, MLS NEXT Pro, and Academy games•Work with General Manager, Technical Director, First Team Head Coach, Assistant General Manager and Academy Director on development plans for high potential players•Identify and recommend opportunities for high potential players to participate in First Team matches in preseason, regular season and other competitions5) Player Recruitment•Assist in the recruiting process at direction of General Manager, Technical Director, and Assistant General Manager6) Gameday Administration:•Manage process to prepare and present opponent scouting, game model and pre-game meetings•Gather information from players and give input related to travel, pre-game meals, and lodging7) Administrative•Maintain day to day integrity of the program8) Pre-Season•Coordinate with staff (pre-season)•Participate in pre-season meeting scheduling9) Community•Interact with local soccer community•Make public appearances and participate in promotional and sponsorship activities on behalf of the Team (and its sponsors) as are reasonable in light of Employee's position as Second Team Head Coach without additional compensation•Involve players with community outreach activities10) Video Analysis•Use video to analyze training and matches•Prepare individual game and training video edits under the direction of the First Team Head Coach11) Other Duties•Performing such other duties consistent with the employment as Second Team Head Coach that may from time to time be reasonably determined as assigned to Employee by the General Manager, Technical Director and/or Assistant General ManagerQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS•5 or more years of professional coaching experience.•10 or more years of experience in a high-performance environment.•Familiarity with Microsoft Products: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.•Able to travel and work irregular hours as dictated by event schedules and project timetables.•Able to work nights, weekends, and Holidays.•Minimum U.S. Soccer Federation A License or Equivalent•Bilingual: English/Spanish - PreferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES•Strong ability to communicate and work under pressure.•Ability to execute tasks in high performance environment•High level of detail orientation, accuracy, and organization.•Acts with high levels of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to exercise discretion andgood judgement.•This role requires a high level of trust and managing delicate and sensitive information.•Strong team philosophy: proven ability to work positively, collaboratively, and professionallywith a team and across the organization.•Proactive and sense of urgency.•Flexible and positive approach to work.•Punctual and professional in manner and attire.•Maintains Organizational Core Competencies.ORGANIZATIONAL CORE COMPETENCIESTeam FirstRespectAccountabilityPursuit of ExcellenceOTHER INFORMATIONDiverse candidates of all backgrounds are welcome, and the Club seeks individuals passionate about sport, inspiring the city and devoted to the organization's growth.
