As a Data Science & AI Intern , you will go through a hands-on 12-week program and solve complex, real-world problems. You will experience firsthand how Data/AI is used to enhance and support the investment process. Our internship program offers mentorship and collaboration with senior members of the team in addition to the opportunity to expand your network with the greater intern cohort. Overview of Data Internship Opportunities at BAM:Data Analyst interns will work on the Geospatial + Alternative Data team, Human Resources team or Corporate Strategy team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining critical datasets used by our investment teams. You will need to manage relationships across the entire data pipeline, from working with data vendors to delivering clean data to the end user in an easily digestible format. If you have a passion for collaborative problem solving and love building elegant data solutions, you will excel in this role. This role is open to undergraduate students and will be in our New York Office. Data Scientists interns work on the Private Market Investment team or the Geospatial + Alternative Data teams. In this role, you will be responsible for extracting actionable insights from our many rich datasets. You will be involved at every stage of this process, including hypothesis generation, data cleansing and wrangling, building and testing appropriate statistical and machine learning models, and communicating your findings to senior managers. This role is open to masters students in our New York or San Francisco Offices. Applied AI Research interns will be responsible for researching and implementing generative AI solutions to empower our investment teams to work more efficiently and effectively. You'll be involved in every phase of the analytics process, from research and idea generation to the hands-on development of systems to store, retrieve and derive insights from textual data. As part of the Applied AI team, you'll get to see first-hand how AI can be used to enhance and support the investment process. This role is open to Masters and PhD students in our New York and Austin Offices. Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, Masters or PhD student graduating between December 2025 or May 2026 who is pursuing a degree Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science with a focus on Natural Language Processing and/or Generative AI techniques, or another related quantitative field.
  • Exceptional analytical, data processing and programming skills (python, pandas and SQL)
  • Exceptional understanding of statistical and machine learning concepts
  • Strong knowledge of probability and stats (ML/NLP)
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and managing code repositories (GitHub)
  • Experience with data wrangling and cleaning
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical subject matters
  • Results driven mindset, ability to work in an ambiguous environment, and work collaboratively within a team environment
  • For our Data Scientist/AI Researcher roles, familiarity with language models such as BERT, GPT, and XLNet, and NLP related publications is a plus
  • For our Data Scientist/AI Researcher roles, experience with the following technologies is a plus: Vector Databases, OpenSearch, Apache Airflow, AWS, Spark, Databricks, ML packages (scikit-learn and PyTorch)
  • For our Geospatial + Alt Data teams: Academic or industry experience in the following fields is a plus: natural science, spectral imaging, hydrology, meteorology, weather/flood modelling, computer vision, econometrics
