This role involves managing the scheduling of large-scale IT projects for an investor-owned utility client, based in New Jersey. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in planning, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and meet the client's requirements.Responsibilities
- Partner with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules, including defining tasks, dependencies, milestones, resources, and costs
- Perform schedule analysis, manage project dependencies, and lead schedule audits
- Create and manage cost and resource-loaded schedules, ensuring adherence to project governance procedures
- Provide forward-looking schedule analysis and communicate impacts to key milestones and critical path activities
- Collaborate with project managers, financial analysts, and vendors to forecast project financials based on actual costs and schedule performance
- Advise on best practices for using scheduling software, templates, and reports
- Maintain the schedule database for all project schedules, templates, and historical data
- Identify potential risks, troubleshoot delays, and propose recovery actions to maintain project timelines
- Attend project meetings, document action items, and provide updates to leadership
- Ensure adherence to client's Project Scheduler standards and guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or MIS
- 4+ years of scheduling experience using Primavera P6
- Strong understanding of Project Management and Project Management Office processes
- Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - with the ability to engage with senior leadership
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage complex data
- Experience with capital project management and project controls (specifically scheduling)
Preferred Qualifications
- Primavera P6 certification
- PMI-SP and/or PMP certification

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Earned Value Management (EVM) experience
- Ability to evaluate, solve complex problems, and recommend practical solutions
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Work Environment
- This position is based in Newark, NJ, with flexibility for remote work.
- The team typically works in the office 2+ days per week; remote candidates must be comfortable working East Coast hours.
