Your Role

The Provider Operations Data and Analytics team is responsible for data support needs for the department and external customers. The Data Analyst, Consultant will report to the Operations Data and Analytics Manager. In this role you will gather requirements, design and develop dashboards for performance metrics, automation data trends, audits, regulatory requirements, healthcare mandates and various other internal data needs.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and conduct evaluations and studies within limited time frames and produce analyses that are easy for non-technical persons to understand.
  • Lead/coordinate the design and implementation of reports that integrate data from multiple sources, including design of reporting systems and standardization of metrics and formats across departments and functional areas.
  • Assess business risks relating to reporting design and production; develop and implement plans to mitigate risks.
  • Function as facilitator and/or mentor for data reporting projects, teams and task forces; supply consultative advice to cross-functional analytics teams and business units regarding standard business rules and algorithms.
  • Coordinate interaction between data analysis teams and support functions including information systems, provider relations and medical management.
  • Lead facilitation sessions with business Subject Matter Experts for clarity of requirements definitions.
  • Gather business requirements and turn them into Tableau dashboards or data extracts that represent the business needs.
  • Use Agile methods and ceremonies to manage data requests from customers.

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires an MPH, MBA, MS, MA in science, social science, public health, health services research or business, or BA/BS with demonstrated equivalent work experience.
  • Requires at least 7 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Requires at least 5 years of experience in Health Care (managed care, academic, or government payer).
  • Demonstrated success working in a team-based environment; strong facilitation and negotiation skills are required.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL, SQL and writing freehand SQL.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience writing Python or R.
  • 3 years of experience creating data visualization and storytelling using tools like Tableau.
  • 3 years of experience analyzing and transforming data into dashboards that tell a story and add insight for senior management teams.
  • 3 years of experience using Agile methodologies and participating in Sprint daily stand-up meetings.
  • Strong communication skills are required; technical and business writing skills; experience communicating with SQL Developers, business users and management to succinctly explain technical and functional concepts.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $109,000.00 to $147,000.00 for California.
