About the role As a Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in providing insights into the operational health of the business by leveraging data from various systems. This role involves gathering, analyzing, and reporting on data trends to support data-driven decision-making. Utilizing advanced business intelligence and analytics tools such as Power BI and Anaplan, you will identify patterns, generate insights, and develop key performance indicators (KPIs). The successful candidate will innovate in using existing and new data sources to produce enhanced metrics that drive actionable insights, ultimately improving Symetra's Financial Services operations. This position requires a blend of analytical prowess, technical skills, and a proactive approach to uncover opportunities for business improvement. What you'll do in this role
  • Build a working understanding of Symetra products, its customers, data infrastructure, and Finance business goals.
  • Identify opportunities and partners with key members of Finance Services to enhance quality of existing data elements and to digitize/collect new data sources that could improve decision making. You will also provide data modeling requirements for the data foundation needed in the formation of operational metrics.
  • Operationalize compelling self-service dashboards and tools.
  • Understand basic business performance, answers questions to drive business actions, and provides training on business intelligence reports.
  • Engage in project work, leveraging data analytics and modeling to drive business advancements within the sales incentive compensation team.

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience with programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R), data platforms (e.g. Snowflake), and BI Reporting Tools (e.g. Power BI) is required.
  • Anaplan modeling experience is also preferred.
  • ETL development and understanding of data warehousing concepts, preferred.
  • Experience in the financial services and/or insurance industry is preferred.
