Position Title: Data Analyst (Title V)Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Research with a dotted line to the Title V Project Director/Executive Director of Advising, the Data Analyst is responsible for supporting the data and reporting related to the centralized advising office and first-year experience. This is a grant-funded position that is also responsible for collecting and analyzing data to enable effective reporting to the U.S. Department of Education and the campus community. - Work with Title V project staff and external evaluator to identify, collect, store, and analyze institutional and project-level data.
- Work with the Executive Director of Institutional Research to ensure timely and accurate data reporting to the Department of Education
- Design, develop, and implement technological solutions that enhance the advising operations and improve student support, in collaboration with Information Technology Services (ITS).
- Leverage Banner Communications Management (BCM) to assist the advising office with dynamic communications.
- Assist with the administration, analysis, and presentation of student success survey
- Develop custom reports and dashboards using Tableau that provide robust analyses of key performance indicators (Retention, Satisfaction, etc.).
- Provide accurate and robust ad-hoc analyses related to targeted Title V grant initiatives.
- Independently pursue new knowledge, when needed, to learn technologies associated with advising and student support
- Provide training to campus stakeholders (Advisors, Administrators, Senior Leadership) related to the use of technology and data that supports student success
- Manage data and support analysis work of the evaluation team and external evaluation.
- Participate in the Data Governance Committee (M-DAT) and other campus committees.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on quantitative skills (mathematics, statistics, social sciences, or related field of study). Master's Degree preferred.
- Three (3) years of professional full-time experience that includes responsibilities related to data management, reporting, and program evaluation
- Experience with statistical software or similar programming languages (e.g., SPSS or R)
- Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, or similar data visualization software
- Strong understanding of SQL and relational database concepts
- Strong understanding of the Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel)
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner ERP, and related software (e.g., DegreeWorks, Qualtrics, EAB Starfish, CourseDog, Banner Communications Management)
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to work with technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong commitment to working in a culturally diverse, urban institution setting supporting
