Job Description:
Job Title: Data Analyst (Transportation Sector) Location: New York City Type: Full-time, Hybrid CARIAN is growing! We are a proud, nationally certified woman-owned management consulting firm providing program/project management, capital project delivery, consulting, and technology solutions to our customers in the renewable energy, power utilities, infrastructure, and transit/transportation sectors. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Analyst with experience in the transportation sector to join our dynamic team. This hybrid position requires strong analytical abilities, an understanding of transportation data, and experience in both quantitative and qualitative analysis. You will play a key role in leveraging data to inform transportation-related decisions, economic impact assessments, and policy recommendations.   • Data Collection & Quantitative Analysis:
    • Conduct comprehensive analyses using publicly available data from sources such as the U.S. Census, USDOT, BLS, and FRED.
    • Identify and present relevant trends in economic, demographic, and transportation data to support critical agency decisions, including inflation and remote work trend analyses.
    • Organize and present data effectively using Excel and PowerBI to facilitate knowledge transfer and decision-making.
    • Contextualize results by referencing comparable data sources and determine key metrics to represent transportation and economic trends.
    • Utilize R, Python, or similar programming languages to automate data extraction and streamline analysis processes.
  • Research & Reporting:
    • Perform market and industry behavior research through both qualitative and quantitative methods.
    • Conduct literature reviews, monitor economic reports, and present commentary on economic releases affecting transportation.
    • Summarize key findings in clear, concise reports and presentations, communicating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Support project decisions with evidence-based analysis and well-researched recommendations.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation, statistics, or economics.
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, statistics, or a related field; a Master's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerBI, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) and analytical tools (e.g., R, Python, EViews, Stata).
  • Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis and econometrics.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effective in hybrid work environments.
  • Familiarity with benefit-cost analysis, economic impact analysis, and econometric forecasting is a plus.
Specific Requirements:
  • The candidate must work onsite 3 days a week at the client's NYC main office or other client locations as required.
  • Must obtain a SWAC I.D. and relevant security clearances immediately upon hiring.
