JOB SUMMARY/GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Data Analytics and Reporting Manager will play a key role in advancing the college's mission of supporting student success through data-informed decision-making. This position leads the data analytics and reporting functions, managing a team responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data that supports strategic initiatives, enrollment management, student retention, and institutional effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics, visualization, and reporting, with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders across the college. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversee the development and submission of compliance reports, including IPEDS, accreditation, and state-mandated data submissions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Create and maintain internal reporting structures that provide real-time and longitudinal insights into college metrics, supporting accreditation, program reviews, and grant reporting requirements.
- Lead cross-functional projects focused on data analytics and reporting improvements, ensuring alignment with the college's strategic priorities and timelines.
- Develop and maintain a project roadmap for analytics and reporting initiatives, including new technologies, system upgrades, and process improvements that enhance institutional data capabilities. college metrics, supporting accreditation, program reviews, and grant reporting requirements.
- Design and maintain dashboards and visual data reports using visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) that make complex data accessible and actionable for stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on best practices in data visualization to ensure data is presented in an engaging, user-friendly format that aligns with institutional goals.
- Ensure data quality through regular audits, validation processes, and adherence to data governance standards. Work with departments to maintain consistency and reliability across data sources.
- Lead the development and implementation of data governance policies that promote data accuracy, integrity, and security, ensuring compliance with regulations such as FERPA.
- Manage and develop a team of data analysts and reporting specialists, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Provide training, support, and mentorship to staff, enhancing data literacy across the team and promoting a culture of continuous improvement in data practices.
- Act as a data resource for departments across the college, supporting initiatives related to student success, curriculum development, and institutional improvement.
- Collaborate with IT, Student Services & Enrollment Management, Academic Programs, and other stakeholders on data integration, reporting tools, and analytics projects to enhance data accessibility and usability.
- Collaborate with departments to understand their data needs, develop analytical models, and provide insights that drive operational improvements.
- Conduct advanced data analysis to support strategic objectives in areas such as student success, equity, retention, and program performance.
- Lead research studies and analytical projects, identifying trends and patterns to inform decision-making at all levels.
- Serve on ad hoc committees as requested and appointed by the CIO.
- Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in data analytics, institutional research, or reporting in higher education.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL) and data query languages.
- Strong understanding of compliance reporting requirements in higher education, including IPEDS and state reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and best practices in data security.
- Familiarity with Student Information Systems (SIS) such as Jenzabar or Colleague, as well as Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Experience with statistical software or programming languages (e.g., SQL, SPSS)
- Curious, coachable, and committed to lifelong learning with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems.
- Scheduling: Monday - Friday; 8am to 4:30pm. This position is not overtime eligible. Varied work schedule during critical periods sometimes requiring evening, Saturday, and Sunday work hours. Due to the need of interaction with students, employees, and the college community this position requires in-person presence. This position is eligible for telework per the Telework Policy.
- Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
- Work Environment: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
