Job Description:
Manages the Data Center and related mechanical devices. Manages and designs hardware deployments and cabling inside the Data Center. Documents the network and data center processes, and performs related tasks. Assists in the design and engineering of the data center and future datacenter related initiatives. Mentors junior team members and helps increase their effectiveness and skillset.RESPONSIBILITIESNetwork Maintenance:Responsible for operation and maintenance of the Data Center, including all day to day activitiesAssists with data center design and architectureWrites documentation and SOP for Data Center OperationsBrings forward opportunities for improvement and architecture changesPerforms installation of network and systems equipment (rack, stack and cabling). Knowledge of tools for installation. Removing equipment when decommissionedMonitor facilities for power, cooling and other capacity needsTest and turn up circuits including data, voice, and specialty circuitsPerform basic system administration tasks under direction from Network and Systems AdministratorsAs required must be available on a 24 hour basis for emergency support. Only when required and considered abnormal to general operations.Troubleshoot and verify existing network equipment and systems infrastructureProvide feedback on and refinement of data center operational processesEstablishes specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements.Evaluates performance and issues including availability and utilization; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipmentMaintains Data Center performance by performing monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting problems; escalating problems to vendor or other staffSome technical and desktop support tasks requiredManages and configures Network Disaster Recovery including procedural documentation.Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizationsProtects organization's value by keeping information confidentialAccomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishmentsDocumentation:Documents specific duties, activities, problems solved and issues resolvedAssists in the documentation of the network, applications and resources on the network in conjunction with the public service staff.Performs training.Miscellaneous:Attends meetings and serves on committees, as requestedCoordinate with the Trainer to set up and take down Cyberschool equipment, as well as any other equipment needed for meetingsCoordinates with upper management to setup new offices as needed.Regular attendance as requiredPerforms additional duties and assignments as requestedEducation/Certification:Bachelors degreeExperience:4+ years of related experienceAdditional Requirement(s):Due to the nature of this position and the need for employees in this position to either work an on-call schedule or be on site within a short period of time, the successful applicant must live within 45-miles of the posted office location.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience:CCNA Data CenterKnowledge of:Datacenter HVAC, CRAC, cooling technologiesDatacenter power, UPS, generator operations, etc.Datacenter fire suppression systems (FM200, HFC125, etc.)General knowledge of datacenter design and constructionLAN/WANStructured CablingEthernet and Fiber CablingTelecommunications SystemsEmerging Technology TrendsDatacenter Best Practice and Industry Standard MethodologySkills/Abilities:Evaluate critical systems, prioritize workflow and determine solutionsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsInterpret and apply laws, regulations and policiesProvide technical assistance for computer problemsRead and understand technical manualsWork for extended time at keyboard/terminalMaintain effective working relationships with supervisor and coworkersWork flexible hours, including weekends and eveningsValue open, honest communicationEager to be transparent and truthful as a primary matter of coursePaycom is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
