- Manage the day-to-day operations of multiple data centers, including network infrastructures, server platforms, installed systems and software environments, databases, and application servers.
- Ensure operational availability and security of systems through the implementation and maintenance of operational practices such as patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Monitor and maintain system performance, troubleshooting issues as they arise to minimize downtime.
- Oversee the reporting and escalation processes, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet operational needs, including hiring, training, and scheduling contract staff.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to manage and maintain hardware and software infrastructure.
- Manage data center projects, including upgrades, expansions, and new installations.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor progress against these plans.
- Ensure that all projects comply with government regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to ensure compliance with security protocols and standards.
- Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the data center operations and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and analyze data center performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement best practices to optimize energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Regularly review and update operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Seven years of equivalent work experience may be used to qualify.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in data center operations, with a minimum of five years of data center management.
- Strong knowledge of data center operations, cloud services, server platforms, storage platforms, databases, application servers, and operating systems.
- Deep understanding of the ITIL framework and best practices for service management.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance as required for access to classified information.
