JOB TITLE: Data Center Technician LOCATION: Onsite in Buffalo, NY DURATION: 6 month contract to hire RATE RANGE: $31-41/hour SUMMARY: The Data Center Technician is essential for the maintenance, management, and operation of a data center facility. They are responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of data center infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and cooling systems. What You'll Do Perform routine maintenance and inspections of data center hardware, including servers, storage devices, and networking equipment Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware issues, coordinating with vendors for repairs or replacements as needed Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software Monitor server performance and take proactive measures to optimize performance and prevent downtime Manage and configure network switches, routers, and firewalls Monitor network traffic and address connectivity issues promptly Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard data center assets and prevent unauthorized access Monitor power distribution and backup systems (UPS) to ensure uninterrupted operation Maintain detailed records of equipment inventory, maintenance activities, and system configurations Follow disaster recovery plans to minimize data center downtime What You'll Bring dditional technical certifications or a related degree Proficiency in data center hardware, networking, and server technologies Strong familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) and server virtualization Competence in data center management tools and software Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills bility to work effectively in a 24/7 operational environment This job description serves as a general outline of the responsibilities and qualifications required for a Data Center Technician.
