Job Title: Hybrid Data Center TechnicianLocation: Dallas, TX (Hybrid) Job Type: Full-time Job Description: We are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Hybrid Data Center Technician to oversee the critical physical infrastructure of our data center located in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all hardware, software, and networking systems are effectively installed, maintained, and optimized to meet operational requirements. This role requires a solid understanding of data center infrastructure, experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools like ServiceNow, and the ability to collaborate with a team while handling tasks independently. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure, ensuring systems are operational and compliant with safety and security standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of the data center facility and perform troubleshooting and diagnostics of hardware and connectivity issues.
- Install, monitor, and maintain data center equipment including racks, switches, servers, and patch panels.
- Perform rack and stack work, assemble server racks, and handle the commission and decommission of hardware.
- Troubleshoot and document technical issues using the ServiceNow ticketing system or a similar ITSM tool.
- Perform component replacements such as DIMMs, hard drives, and power supplies.
- Adhere to change control processes and support data center capacity planning and expansion projects.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, maintenance, and repairs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and end-users.
- Respond to network and server issues after hours as needed.
- Assist in maintaining high-availability environments, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Work hands-on in a physical data center environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs, moving servers, walking stairs, and climbing ladders.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Extensive experience in data center hardware installation, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or equivalent systems.
- Knowledge of data center management software such as NLYTE or similar platforms.
- Experience with financial services environments preferred.
- Solid understanding of facilities infrastructure, Windows operating systems, PC troubleshooting, and management applications.
- Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Exceptional teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work independently on assigned tasks.
- Ability to coordinate with vendors for equipment procurement, maintenance, and repairs.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, walk stairs, and be on your feet for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a complex, high-availability data center environment.
- Hands-on experience with hardware commissioning and decommissioning.
- Familiarity with patch panels and network/server hardware installations.
