Job Description:

Akkodis is seeking a Data Center Technician for a contract job (12 months) with a client in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate must have experience with IT hardware, cable management, and troubleshooting in a data center environment. Rate Range: $23/hour to $25/hour on W2; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Data Center Technician job responsibilities include:

  • Provide support for new installations and migration of IT hardware, cables, power distribution, and other ancillary components.
  • Conduct maintenance and system upgrades on infrastructure components.
  • Diagnose, repair, replace, and escort vendors in support of hardware failures and remediation activities.
  • Decommission legacy hardware and complete necessary reconciliation processes.
  • Maintain and install support infrastructure such as cable trays, PDUs, and shelves.
  • Terminate copper and fiber, including following fiber Quick Connect Termination Procedures.
  • Document Data Center and Infrastructure processes and procedures, including DCIM installation and upkeep.
  • Label all hardware and cables in the Data Centers and support hardware systems like HVAC and conduits.
  • Coordinate Data Center as a Service (DCaaS) by escorting vendors and maintaining CPS Energy employee/vendor access.
  • Ensure compliance with CPS Energy safety standards.
  • Respond to normal and high severity incidents.
  • Work with Facilities to coordinate maintenance and keep inspections up to date.
  • Perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and solution implementation as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with entry-level data center experience.
  • Basic knowledge of fiber, copper, power cables, and electrical systems (PDU, UPS).
  • Basic knowledge of air handling hardware, generators, fire suppression systems, HVAC, and chillers.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's or higher degree in an IT-related field.
