Georgia Transmission Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our growing team! You are a dynamo who loves finding new solutions to evolving problems. You also possess great persistence in addressing complex challenges. You will play a crucial role within our team, working closely with IT professionals, data scientists, data analysts, and electric utility industry experts. Your primary responsibilities will involve developing scalable data pipelines to handle large volumes of structured data, interact with real-time streaming APIs, transform data, and help to build the infrastructure to support data analytics. You will leverage your existing skills in Python, .NET, SQL, ETL/ELT, Git, and technology applications to develop applications in the cloud. You will receive training to leverage the latest cutting-edge cloud technologies in Microsoft Azure, providing a unique opportunity to learn and become proficient in, based on applying existing company policies and procedures. These technologies may include real-time API interfaces/architectures, Data Lakes, Databricks, AI Webapps, DevOps, Terraform, security monitoring, Synapse Analytics, user access management, and more. REQUIRE QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Experience: One (1) year experience as a data engineer or similar role. Understanding power systems is an added bonus. Equivalent Experience: Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with relevant experience from internships or co-ops. Specialized Skills: * Strong motivation to find creative solutions to novel problems. * .NET or C#: Experience with .NET or C# is required for interacting with real-time APIs. * Python or PySpark: Expertise in Python or PySpark for processing and transformation is required. * Databricks/Synapse Analytics: Familiarity with Databricks, Synapse Analytics, or similar Apache Spark platforms is a plus. * Event-Driven Architectures: Experience with Kafka or Azure Event Grid is a plus. * Data Pipelines: Experience in designing and managing data pipelines (ELT/ETL) is a plus. * Azure: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure applications and services is a plus. * Version Control: Proficiency in using Git for version control is a plus. * DevOps Practices: Understanding of DevOps practices and tools is a plus. * Infrastructure as Code: Knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure as code is a plus. * Access Control Management: Knowledge of role-based access control is a plus. * Data Cataloging: Willingness to assist with future data catalog efforts. At an organizational level, our goal is to improve affordability and reliability for all of our members. Our efforts will support the Business Intelligence department. We accomplish all of this through our primary objectives: innovation, collaboration, integrity, excellence, efficiency, and education. We support the GTC Data Lake and analytics training education (such as Power BI, Excel, Data Science, Python, SQL, Power Query, etc. Our team also oversees championing data governance, along with the support of the DATA Team.
