Job Description:
River Hospital is seeking two Data Entry Clerks to work in our Health Information Management (HIM) Department full-time on a 6 month temporary basis. Base pay offered dependent on experience level. Job Purpose The Data Entry Specialist, under the supervision of the Health Information Manager, performs all daily clerical functions including preparing patient charts and gathering information and documents from patients, paper chart assembly, chart deficiency, chart tracking and chart completion on all inpatient, outpatient and paper and electronic medical records. The Data Entry Specialist is responsible for ensuring the medical records are organized, accurate, and complete. The Data Entry Specialist assists in data collection for Quality Improvement projects inter-departmentally and hospital wide. The Data Entry Specialist is responsible for identifying and informing the Manager of any issues, problems or concerns relating to Medical Records, Physicians, or the Hospital. Maintains up to date accurate filing and record keeping systems by creating digital copies of paperwork and storing records electronically. Processes records and routes to appropriate personnel, ensuring timely completion of records for continuity of patient care and for meeting state and federal regulations. Responsibilities of this job include scanning chart documents into the appropriately assigned location within the Medical Record, Verifying patient identity and chart information. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years prior experience in a Hospital/Physician Office
  • Experience in a related position is preferred
  • PC and keyboard skills required
  • Accurate clerical skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills necessary
  • Ability to work with diverse groups including physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, and families.
