Paraprofessional/Auxiliary - Position - Secretary/Clerical - Elementary Job Number 490####### Start Date Open Date Closing Date PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under direct supervision, perform data entry including accounting, personnel, budget, demographics, or Public Education Management System (PEIMS) data; attendance; or grades into computer databases. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing Proficient keyboarding, file maintenance and 10-key skills Ability to meet established deadlines Demonstrate good interpersonal skills Experience: Data entry experience preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Records and Reports Enter alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source document using online computer terminal or personal computer. Key and verify results according to procedures provided. Recognize and correct errors in original data prior to processing. Recognize deficiencies in source documents and returns them to originator for correction. Print reports using database information including attendance reports, class or personnel rosters, end-of-semester reports, or accounting reports. Other Input all new to the district (including recent immigrants). Call to verify absences. Attendance - phone parents, teacher attendance reports, principal's report, student attendance, keep log (parent calls to change dismissal). Principal's report Liaison with district attendance personnel. Weekly attendance report. Daily attendance report. Friday: Percentage of attendance by classroom. Reports for the PEIMS Data Specialist. Answer phones and take messages in a friendly manner. Call out the buses in the afternoon. Requisitions for staff. Front desk duties. Maintain confidentiality Perform any other duties as may be assigned. Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer or online computer terminal, printer, calculator, and copier. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer.
