Job Summary The Data Governance Manager will contribute to the identification, utilization, and governance of data across Raymond James Financial. This position will report to the VP of Data Governance and support RJF as it builds its capabilities to transition to a Category IV institution. Collaborative relationships and strategic partnerships with business unit data owners and data governance managers, senior management and external consultants will be required to define, identify, research, source and drive accountability for complete, accurate, timely, and consistent data. The Data Steward Lead uses experience, judgement, knowledge, and skills to drive cross-functional efforts; works to understand the needs, strategy, and direction of RJF's Large Financial Institution readiness. Typically deals with complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact. Anticipates challenges and resolves or recommends solutions to complex problems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities •The Data Governance Manager is a key position on the Corporate Data Governance team, responsible for identifying and resolving all types of data issues. This position requires a combination of analytical and technical skills, as well as a solid understanding of policies and processes across the business. •Identifies the data needs of regulatory reporting for Category IV financial institutions, and helps to plan, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the governance-related activities of the business units to ensure high levels of data quality and reliability. •Develop new automation capabilities for the Corporate Data Governance team, combining tools such as Teams, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, Ab Initio Metadata Management Hub, etc. with end user computing tools such as Python, Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI, etc. •Participate in projects involving both upstream and downstream data flows, processes, and ownership. •Execute data-related strategies and tactics to improve Raymond James' efficiencies in data management through collaboration with leadership, business and IT teams, working at both a business unit and corporate level. •Contribute to a comprehensive data governance repository, where the Corporate Data Governance team describes the definitions, ownership, business rules, data lineage, data quality controls, results, and remediation efforts, as well as other characteristics governing critical data elements, key metrics and key reports. •Help drive Corporate Data Governance's data quality efforts and initiatives, working closely with the VP of Data Governance to design, develop and deploy policies and procedures, cultural changes, communications strategies, training documents, process redesign, and tool implementation as needed. •Use tools to create dashboards, reports and visualizations of relevant metrics, allowing the Corporate Data Governance team to work with business units and other corporate teams to monitor the quality of data across Raymond James. •Support the continuing deployment of the company's data governance policy and framework, standards, priorities, change management strategies and communication plans. •Use your strong written and oral communications skills and confident, collaborative style, to work closely with, motivate and influence the Corporate Data Governance team, IT, Chief Administrative Office, Regulatory Reporting, Risk Management, and other business, operations, and technology teams, including business owners, subject matter experts, technology resources, and data stewards, both within Raymond James Financial and across both bank and non-bank business units. •Create documentation to be used by the appropriate groups and departments to resolve data issues, as well as keeping Raymond James leadership informed on the state of data management efforts. •Work with business functions to define and communicate data standards, policies, frameworks and procedures to ensure a common business vocabulary and consistent information to leverage data cross-functionally. •Ensure Data Governance processes are developed and clearly communicated, with an eye to continuous performance measures, and work closely within the Corporate Data Governance team to contribute best practices, standards, policies, procedures and processes to optimize data management. •Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of •Concepts, principles and practices of internal controls and data management and governance. •Principles of banking, finance and securities industry operations, and familiarity with accounting and finance related topics. •General familiarity with Raymond James' risk and control framework. •Concepts of business analytics, as well as existing capability (or ability to learn) end user productivity and business intelligence tools such as Python, Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI, Team, SharePoint, etc. •Understand Structured Query Language (SQL) in order to extract data lineage from SQL statements. •Deep understanding of enterprise data management concepts, principles and practices. •Experience in implementing and using data governance / quality tools (particularly Ab Initio, Collibra, IBM InfoSphere or Informatica Data Quality) is a plus. •Familiarity with Federal Reserve Bank regulatory requirements is a plus. Skill in •Strong soft skills in collaboration, facilitation, coordination, logistics, presentation, marketing, and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal). •Outstanding project management skills; proficient with project management tools and techniques; can easily manage multiple issues simultaneously. Ability to •Ability to understand data models and taxonomies, with deep skills in data quality. •Exceptional analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, prioritization, and negotiating abilities. •Able to tolerate and operate in areas of uncertainty and ambiguity. •Self-confidence, high energy, and tenacity in bringing issues to closure. Educational/Previous Experience RequirementsEducation/Previous Experience •BS/BA degree in Computer Science / Business / MIS (equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training approved by Human Resources) preferred, with a minimum of 6 years experience. •Data quality, data governance/management or similar level data analysis experience required Licenses/Certifications •None required.
