Remote, Part-time Privacy + Data Security Attorney (NY)
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a part-time experienced Privacy + Data Security Attorney for a temporary position. This is a fully remote position, NY only. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-4 years of experience in privacy law, data security, and compliance, particularly with laws such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other data protection regulations. The role will primarily support the legal department in managing privacy and data security issues, drafting and reviewing policies, contracts, and handling risk assessments. This role is set to last for at least 16 weeks.
Responsibilities:
• Advise clients and internal teams on data privacy issues, including compliance with privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other applicable federal and state regulations
• Draft and review privacy policies, data processing agreements, terms of service, and other related documents to ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
• Assist with the development and implementation of data privacy and security programs, including conducting risk assessments and data audits
• Provide guidance on data breach response procedures and assist in managing incident investigations and reporting
• Conduct research on privacy-related laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance with evolving legal requirements
• Support in negotiations related to privacy and data security provisions in commercial contracts and vendor agreements
• Assist in the development and delivery of training materials for internal teams on privacy and data security best practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and legal, to ensure a comprehensive approach to data privacy and security
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3-4 years of experience practicing in the area of privacy
and data security law
• JD from an accredited law school, active NY State Bar membership
• In-depth knowledge of privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other data protection regulations
• Strong experience in reviewing and drafting data processing agreements, privacy policies, and compliance-related documents
• Experience in handling data breach response, incident management, and reporting
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
• Strong research, analytical, and communication skills
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance
