We want talented data scientists who can work as part of a team to design and implement state of the art data analytics, and acquire meaningful, actionable intelligence for our sponsors.   • Work within a team environment to develop, perform, and automate analyses on large, diverse data sets in support of critical operational requirements
  • Work with government sponsors to identify appropriate data sources, models, methods, and validation approaches for developing new analyses in response to critical information requirements identify and implement appropriate methods of visualization and communication.
  • Contribute to and lead software teams to integrate analysis within application data platforms.
  • Share knowledge by clearly articulating ideas through papers and presentations to technical staff, management, and government decision makers.

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field, with emphasis on data science or applied math strong problem solving skills.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience, along with proficiency with some of the following implementation languages: Python, R, Matlab, Java, or Kotlin.
  • Experience with data processing libraries such as numpy, scipy, pandas, and matplotlib.
  • Experience in AI and machine learning (ML)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Are able to obtain a Top Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field, with emphasis on data science or applied math.
  • A proven track record in developing and communicating analyses of large real-world data sets.
  • Experience with data-driven model development, time series analytics, stochastic optimization, estimation, predictive analytics, communicating uncertainty, and more.
  • Experience working within agile software teams experience with git/gitlab and software engineering practices.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
