Overview The Media & Conferences department of Oak View Group (OVG) is hiring a Data Scientist as we look to expand our data offerings to customers and other stakeholders in the live entertainment industry. This pivotal role involves leveraging advanced data science techniques to drive innovation and strategic insights. As a Data Scientist, you will apply your expertise in machine learning, predictive analytics, and statistical modeling to solve complex problems and enhance business decisions. You will collaborate with various departments to design and implement models that improve our operational efficiency and customer experiences across the live entertainment industry and our range of products and services. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will also play a key role in mentoring other team members and leading data-driven projects across Media & Conferences and Oak View Group as a whole. This role will pay a salary of $138,000 to $154,000 For FT roles: Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 12 holidays)This position will remain open until December 15, 2024 Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine predictive models and algorithms to forecast trends and behaviors in customer data, operational metrics, and financial performance.
  • Perform deep statistical analysis and apply advanced machine learning techniques to large, complex data sets to extract actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with business intelligence teams to integrate data science outcomes into broader analytics platforms and decision-making tools.
  • Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and drive product and service innovations.
  • Communicate complex data science concepts and the results of analyses clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science, bringing in new methodologies and technologies to enhance the team's capabilities and workflows.
  • Support the Data Services team in providing value to customers.
  • Assist the Pollstar research and editorial team in analyzing and reporting on business trends.
  • Assist in the development of new features, charts and other services that add value to Pollstar data and support better decision-making industry-wide.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 6-9 years of professional experience in data science, with demonstrated expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in data science tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and familiarity with big data technologies.
  • Strong experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Familiarity with the use of standard API's and data formats, such as JSON and XML.
  • Proven ability to manage and analyze large data sets from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in insights.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to initiate and lead projects independently.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex data insights in a clear and effective manner.
Preferences
  • Previous experience with cloud data platforms, especially Azure, is a plus.
  • Experience with C# and .NET is also welcome.
