Data Scientist at Battelle Energy Alliance dba Idaho National Labora in Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States Job Description Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Data Scientist to work in our Cyber Research and Development department. Our team works a 980 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off. You will report to the senior manager over the Cyber Research and Development department. As an individual contributor, you will apply mathematics, statistics, logic, and computer science to obtain insights and conclusions from large datasets. Develop algorithms and software-based analytical tools to operationalize those algorithms, using artificial intelligence, machine-learning, and other techniques. Adapt machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to solve scientific problems and to extract new insights from scientific data. Responsibilities Include: Analyze data and create results in response to data analytics, visualization, and modeling needs on a variety of computational architectures (cloud, on-premises, edge-based). Apply advanced technologies, such as Explainable Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Large language models (LLMs), physics-informed machine learning process-informed Machine Learning, systems performance analysis, and data sensor fusion methodologies. Demonstrate effective research skills and the ability to collaborate and partner with other government agencies, academia, and private sector companies to achieve project goals. Publish results of research and development in a mix of refereed publications and conference proceedings. Work with domain experts to understand the scope and limits of questions that can be answered by data sets, identify main data features as inputs to analysis, and design output metrics that elegantly describe system attributes and behavior. Employ specialized methods and state-of-the-art data analysis and modeling tools to support the INL's mission by ensuring the nation's safe and sustainable use of engineered systems in many domains by applying capabilities to impactful issues in risk, reliability, and operational performance. This posting closes: 9/12/24 Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree and 2 years of direct experience, or a Masters of Science degree and 0-2 years of direct experience; or a Doctorate and 0-2 years of direct experience. Acceptable degrees are in the following: data science, engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, autonomy, artificial intelligence, or related technical discipline Experience in data science, data analysis, and software development using Python, C#, Java, or C . This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance, which requires US Citizenship. The ideal candidate Experience with cloud services and cloud-based analytics (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) SciPy, Notebook IDE, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Cuda, Natural Language Processing Techniques, Graph Databases, Relational Databases and a general understanding of data storage and processing. Experience with version control and repository management (e.g., Git). Job Information: The pay range for this position is: Level #2 ($75,804 - $155,496) / Level #3 ($91,008 - $186,588). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
