Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented Data Scientist to join our growing dynamic team! The Data Scientist reports to the Vice President of Information Technology. This position will join our newly formed data analytics team and contribute to data-driven initiatives focusing on Mission outcomes. The Data Scientist will analyze large datasets, build predictive models, and generate actionable insights that drive business strategies and operational improvements. The person will work closely with various teams to help make data-informed decisions aligned with the organization's goals. Job Type: Full-time, Exempt Essential Duties and Tasks:
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to understand business problems and develop data solutions.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities.
- Design, develop, and implement predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analysis techniques.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and feature engineering to prepare data for modeling.
- Build and maintain data pipelines in collaboration with data engineers.
- Communicate complex analytical insights in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Create data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to track and monitor key performance metrics.
- Continuously improve models and algorithms by testing and fine-tuning them based on real-world data.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science and technology to recommend new tools and approaches.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify third-party data requirements and integrate external data sources, including but not limited to the Kentucky Cabinet for Education and Labor, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Labor.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field required.
- 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python or R and data science libraries
- Strong SQL skills for querying databases.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Solid understanding of machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, clustering, classification) and experience applying them in real-world settings.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Knowledge of statistical methods and techniques.
