Job Description:

Joining the Secret Service, Office of Strategy, Planning, and Innovation will allow you to support strategic planning, policy development, and quantitative analysis operations within the Secret Service.Direct Hire Authority: This position will be filled through the Office of Personnel Management's Direct Hire Authority. The Rule of Three , Category Rating and Veterans Preference will not apply to this vacancy. Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.Basic Requirement:Possession of a Bachelor's or higher degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or a field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.OR Possession of a combination of education and experience. This is defined as courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.ANDSpecialized Experience:GS-11:You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $82,764.00) if you possess one of the following:One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Conducting analysis in programming or statistical software tools (e.g. R, Python, SAS, SPSS, STATA, Tableau, PowerBI) to prepare data for analysis;Assisting with the development of data analysis routines or scripts to standardize the management of electronic records in Cloud platforms (e.g. Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive);Organizing data to assist team members with preparing analytical recommendations to management.OR You have successfully completed three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D.; or successfully completed a Ph.D.; or LL.M., if related, at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.OR You have less than one year of experience as described in A and less than 3 years of graduate level education as described in B. However, you have a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that when combined, equals at least 100% of the total requirement. Note: Only graduate education in excess of the master's level [generally 36 semester hours] may be used in this calculation.GS-12:You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $99,200.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level performing the following duties: Conducting analysis in programming or statistical software tools (e.g. R, Python, SAS, SPSS, STATA, Tableau, PowerBI) to prepare data for analysis;Developing data analysis routines or scripts to standardize the management of electronic records in Cloud platforms (e.g. Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive);Communicating complex topics in plain language to audiences to develop data policies for ensuring proper data governance and/or records management;Applying a combination of analysis methods (regression analysis, statistical analysis, modeling, machine learning, etc.) to identify insights and trends for organizational usage.All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
