Job Description:

Our GBB (Global Black Belt) organization is a team of highly specialized and technical professionals within our Microsoft Customer & Partner Solutions organization (MCAPS) who work with customers to enable some of the most complex and innovative solutions, providing differentiated technical leadership and guidance along the way. The Data team within the GBB organization consists of Specialists and Technology experts, who focus on specific domains, industries, and workloads, such as Opensource Databases, Postgres, Cosmos, SQL Server, Azure AI Services, and Application Development.

The Data Solution Sales Director - Americas is a senior leader within our worldwide Data & AI commercial solution area organization. The role leads, develops, and manages a team of high-performing Solution & Technology Specialists in the Global Black Belt team. These technical sellers are assigned Data workloads working with Microsoft's customers and partners to enable and accelerate their strategy to the cloud. You will lead a team to help customers derive value through their Data modernization projects and application modernizations on Azure. This role will require travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and coaches a high-performing team by hiring diverse talent, prioritizing development, preparing people for more senior positions in other parts of the organization, and delivers success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring.
  • Builds and transforms new markets and identifies and capitalizes on transformational shifts in our customers by maintaining a customer and partner network and building credibility as a domain ‘thought leader' representing Microsoft at events.
  • Drives increased customer value by coaching sellers through identifying and qualifying Azure AI/ML/Cognitive services.
  • Brings impactful market insights into customer engagements and helps close deals with customers, coaching and influencing direct reports.
  • Promotes sharing across geographies and functions for Azure and Azure AI.
  • Leads a team to explore business and emerging opportunities to optimize the portfolio and facilitate customer innovation.
  • Provides direction/guidance on the development of solutions across regions and helps the team create vision for the customers and develop plans to drive value for customers by leveraging Azure AI services.

QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years technology-related sales or account management experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field AND 6+ years technology-related sales or account management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with databases (Open Source and/or Relational).
  • 1+ year of experience in the AI app domain.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of solution or services sales experience OR consulting at a large, global consulting agency or system integrator.
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience.
  • Certification in sales, sales management, complex sales training, sales methodologies, broad evangelism through events (presentation skills), and consultative selling.
  • Knowledge of Azure Data & AI services portfolio or equivalent, and additional open-source technology (e.g., Postgres, SQL, Cosmos, NoSQL).
  • Certifications: Azure, GCP, or AWS.

Solution Area Specialists M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,000 - $217,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $168,600 - $237,500 per year.
