Job Description:
Job Summary: The Data Solutions Engineer III is responsible for bringing advanced knowledge of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence (including ETL, development, testing, ad-hoc reporting, and business analysis) to the Finance function, and is regarded as subject-matter expert and mentor for one or more data domains. This individual role will focus heavily upon Power BI development. Essential Functions:
  • Participate in the full life cycle of data and analytic solutions, broadly from requirements through ETL / ELT, production, consumption, and ad-hoc reporting
  • Responsible for the design and development of complex Power BI reports and interactive dashboards
  • Create, design and optimize central semantic models using DAX, Power Query, and other Power BI tools to empower end-users to leverage self-service models
  • Develop data modeling expertise on one or more insurance-specific data / workflows, such as claims, care management (CM), utilization management (UM), eligibility, and population health
  • Leverage Microsoft Fabric personas (Data Engineering, Data Factory, Data Warehouse) to streamline data integration, governance, and reporting, enhancing data-driven decision making.
  • Partner with Data Solutions Analysts, and line-of-business stakeholders in product ideation, requirements gathering, data reviews, ongoing data quality, and troubleshooting
  • Serve as a champion and mentor for junior colleagues and data consumers, through training, mentorship, architectural design, testing, and documentation
  • Develop or support reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc analysis supporting business consumers
  • Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, keeping up with industry trends
  • Maintain the highest level of data security and confidentiality, conforming to all HIPAA and contract requirements
  • Perform any other job duties as requested
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • A minimum of six (6) years' of experience in data analysis, BI development (including data modeling, profiling and cleansing, and building complex data sets) is required
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience building customer facing reporting solutions (PowerBI, Tableau, Oracle, advanced Excel, etc.) is required
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in healthcare data is required
Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proven analytic skills in solving multi-dimensional problems and experience in creating reports, models, dashboards and presentations to senior leadership and business partners
  • Ability to lead data visualization and modeling efforts
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) and wire-framing tools
  • Proficiency with Azure Databricks and SparkSQL, or similar data lake platforms (Azure Data Lake, Snowflake, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Advanced programming skills (DAX, M Query, SQL and Excel)
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric is preferred
  • Proficiency with cloud tools such as Azure Databricks is a plus
  • Data expertise within healthcare insurance-specific domains, such as claims (medical and pharmacy), health information exchange (HIE), utilization management (UM), demographics, and common healthcare code sets and processes (patient registry, billing, diagnosis, procedure codes)
  • Proficient with the Microsoft 365 suite, including extensive use of Teams, SharePoint, and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Licensure and Certification:
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (SQL, PowerBI, Azure) is preferred
  • Databricks certification and/or badging is preferred
Working Conditions:
  • General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Compensation Range: $79,800.00 - $127,600.00 CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level.
