Your Opportunity
Stantec's Digital Center of Excellence has an opportunity for a Data Engineer - Water Resources who has worked with operational technologies in Water Resources and can complement the existing team. Responsibilities will include helping build out current and future digital solutions by designing and implementing data ingestion and processing techniques. This role requires demonstrable knowledge of water resources and will contribute directly to the advancement of our most innovative water resources assets, like Flood Predictor. This position is also for software engineers with a water resources background and data scientists with strong python development skills.
Your Key Responsibilities
+ Support the Stantec Digital Center of Excellence in developing top-tier digital solutions.
+ Work with remote teams for development and implementation as needed for a variety of digital solutions for data engineering, analytics, and machine learning.
+ Implement reliable water resources data pipelines to support our assets and Stantec's consulting efforts.
+ Work with product managers to define the future development direction of our assets.
+ Suggest, present, and implement latest computational techniques in hydrological data processing and analytics.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
+ Ability to communicate and coordinate with other team members to complete project tasks to meet specific deadlines.
+ Ability to clearly document recommended and implemented strategies.
+ Candidates must be well organized, self-motivated, and enjoy finding solutions to problems.
+ Can work well in a team environment without direct supervision and ability to productively work from home.
+ Familiarity and experience implementing medallion storage architectures.
+ Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
+ Possesses excellent time-management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and available resources.
+ Experience working with web-based APIs using JSON or XML objects.
+ Experience with Python.
+ Experience using Azure DevOps and Atlassian products is preferred.
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
+ 10 years of combined experience working in a cloud environment, leveraging various services for data engineering, such as Azure Data Factory, IOT Hub, Event Hub, Databricks, Storage accounts, Azure SQL Server, Azure Tables, CosmosDB, Functions, etc. or equivalent AWS or GCP services
+ Experience working in a water resources academic, consulting, or other professional role.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
