DATA/WAREHOUSE ARCHITECT – SQL SERVER, AZURE, COGNOS
ALTA is looking for a Data Warehouse Architect with at least 12 years of experience in designing and developing database and data warehouse systems, both on-premises and in the cloud. The role will support an IT engineering and consulting company on a large transportation program in Jersey City, NJ. Work is expected to begin in mid-January 2025.

The ideal candidate should have strong skills in SQL Server and Azure, along with expertise in ETL processes and data governance. Excellent communication skills are essential for collaboration across the organization.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in architecting, designing, and developing databases or Data Warehouse systems on-prem as well as in the cloud using industry best practices.
- Experience in building end-to-end data warehouse and analytical systems using SQL Server family of products, Analysis Services Power BI, etc.
- Maintain complex Data Warehouse models to ensure data integrity, including the development, enhancement, and administration of appropriate ETL functions in support of Cognos TM1 and Cognos BI frameworks and reports.
- Experience in Data platform development using Azure SQL database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Azure Pipelines, and Azure IaaS/PaaS related to databases.
- Experience in data governance, data management, data modeling, data cleansing, data extraction and transformation, data analysis, data migration, data integration and data mapping.
- Strong experience using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SSAS, and SSRS for analysis and report generation.
- Proficient in writing complex T-SQL Queries, Stored Procedures, Views, and ETL in redesigning Databases/Data warehouses using SQL Server, SSIS, and any custom scripts.
- Knowledge or working experience with Cognos BI environment or other business Intelligence toolsets such as Power BI or Tableau preferred.
- Must be hands-on, deeply technical, and exposed to the latest features within data platform development, able to do both coding and guide junior database engineers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization regularly.
- Ability to act independently to resolve issues, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong critical & analytic thinking.
