About the Role:

Are you a growth-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) who enjoys building from the ground up? This is a newly created, foundational role within our organization, designed to build and establish the DBA function from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of broad-based DBA experience across multiple database technologies, a strong understanding of server and database configurations, backups, monitoring, and optimization, as well as a solid background in SQL-based database development. This role will require someone capable of setting the roadmap for the DBA function and leading the team in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain relational databases (MS SQL, MySQL, and other open-source databases).
  • Configure servers and databases, manage backups, monitor performance, and optimize database systems.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, perform query reviews, and ensure effective application and database integrations.
  • Establish and document best practices and processes for database management and future DBA team operations.
  • Provide recommendations for software and hardware improvements through analytical review of data.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure database solutions meet business needs.
  • Help define the roadmap for the DBA function and potentially grow into a lead or managerial role.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in managing databases and the supporting systems (server configuration, database configuration, backups, monitoring, optimization).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL-based databases, including MS SQL, MySQL, and other open-source database technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead and create processes for an incoming DBA team.
  • Broad-based experience with multiple technologies (e.g., Linux, AWS, Snowflake).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data analytics, performance tuning, and recommending improvements for both software and hardware.
