Job Title: Database Administrator Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our IT team. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our databases, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing database performance. Responsibilities include database design, security, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain the organization's database systems to ensure secure and efficient data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
- Monitor database performance and optimize query execution, resource utilization, and database configuration for maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS) and related software tools.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability in the event of system failures or disasters.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database structures and schemas that meet application requirements and performance goals.
- Create and maintain database documentation, including data dictionaries, schema diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Perform database tuning and query optimization to improve system performance and response times.
- Monitor and resolve database-related incidents, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Implement and enforce database security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in database administration and data management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role, managing and administering enterprise-level databases.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency in database design, implementation, and performance tuning, with a solid understanding of relational database concepts and SQL.
- Familiarity with database administration tools and utilities for monitoring, backup and recovery, and performance optimization.
- Experience with database security concepts, including user management, role-based access control, and encryption.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve database-related issues. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and accuracy in ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
