Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in North Charleston, SC.
Responsibilities - Administer and maintain databases, ensuring high availability, integrity, and performance.
- Install, configure, and patch database systems (Oracle and/or SQL).
- Perform database backups, restores, and data migration tasks.
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries and database structures for efficient operations.
- Implement database security protocols to ensure data protection and prevent unauthorized access.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance degradation, corruption, and system failures.
- Work closely with application developers to design, implement, and maintain database solutions.
- Create and maintain database documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
- Provide on-call support for database-related issues.
- Maintain and enhance database backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system upgrades and migrations.
Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 3-5 years of experience working with relational databases and performing DBA functions.
Required Skills - Active Top Secret Clearance (Must be able to start immediately with active clearance).
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) in a professional setting.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, SQL, and database management systems.
- Experience with SQL Server or Oracle (Oracle experience is highly desired).
- Proficiency in database backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of database security best practices, including access control and encryption.
- Familiarity with database monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Skills - Experience with Oracle Database Administration (installation, configuration, tuning, backups, and performance optimization).
- Experience with Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), ASM (Automatic Storage Management), and Data Guard.
- Familiarity with PL/SQL for writing complex queries and scripts.
- Experience with Cloud Database Solutions (AWS, Azure, or other cloud-based DB services).
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
- Experience with Automation tools for DBA tasks (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
