Salary: $77,396.80 - $103,958.00 Annually Location : Titusville, FL Job Type: Full-time / Salary Job Number: 3660 Department: Information Technology Opening Date: 09/18/2024 Closing Date: 10/2/2024 5:00 PM Eastern Job Description Performs operational database services to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. Responsibilities of this role would include tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents, reviewing service-related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved, responding to database related alerts and escalations and collaborating with Systems Engineers on strategic solutions to recurring problems. Position Duties The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional related tasks as necessary.
  • Provide technical guidance.
  • Provide operational support for existing database infrastructure.
  • Initiate performance tuning and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Performs advanced design, development and implementation of new and existing information system applications.
  • Performs related work as directed.
  • Regular, dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or closely related field (equivalent certifications and experience will be considered). Java and/or Progress native language experience required. Five (5) years of experience in database development and support in MS SQL Server environments. New World Systems, Cold Fusion and Crystal Reporting experience preferred. Requires a valid Florida Driver's License (must be maintained for duration of employment) Additional Information Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in an office environment. Hours are primarily M-F 8:00am to 5:00pm, but position requires employee to be flexible based on needs of the agency and available for any disaster or emergency situation. During an emergency, the Sheriff will determine who is considered an emergency responder and whose work is necessary to maintain the operation of law enforcement and correctional facilities. This determination is subject to change based on staffing and the operational needs of the agency. Physical and dexterity requirements: Requires moderate work typically involving some combination of bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, walking or standing; involves lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; must be able to exert up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally. This position requires skill, adeptness or speed in the use of fingers, hands and limbs. Environmental hazards: Work is performed in both office and field environments. Incumbents risk exposure to inclement weather including heat, humidity, cold, and fog; exposure to dust and/or dirt, machinery and/or electricity, fall risk and noise. Sensory requirements: The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking. Successful completion of a criminal background investigation, including polygraph, preemployment medical physical, reference/employment/neighborhood checks, submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to assuming position and will be subject to return to duty, post-accident and/or random and reasonable suspicious for drug tests while employed with BCSO.
