Guardian Life Insurance Company is actively seeking a passionate, driven Lead Database Engineer to provide operational support for Guardian Database Systems, design and build database systems using automation in both data center and cloud platforms, including identifying build defects and create self-healing routines.You areSeeking to work in a world class database technologist team where our mission is to Design, Build, Deliver, and Maintain database systems that are issue-free, always-on, highly secure, and peak performing . A faced-paced learner who is eager to learn more about enterprise database technologies who has many of the desired technology competencies listed below.You have In-depth knowledge and troubleshooting skills in the following:Must have skills:Thorough knowledge of implementing and maintaining security controls in a highly regulated industry with MongoDB databasesExperience with MongoDB versions 5 to 7.Familiarity with MongoDB external LDAP authenticationExperience with Ops manager installation, configuration and job automation activities.MongoDB query tuning experienceShell scripting and automation experienceExperience with MongoDB tools, backup and restoresAWS/Cloud Services experience: EC2, RDS, and AuroraCloud deployments experience: Jenkins, Bitbucket, TerraformHands-on, technically adept DBA, capable of performing required DB tasks experienceStrong troubleshooting/performance tuning skillsAbility to Handle common database life cycle processes, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.Knowledge of data quality, data management, and data testing strategies and practicesStrong experience working with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Zenoss or any other monitoring tool, Cloud monitoring tools (CloudWatch, CloudTrail), AppDynamics (or similar APM tool)Desired skills:Experience with other database flavors including MS SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQLAbility to diagnose problems and triage/resolve issues across various tiers (application, network, database, server, or storage tiers)Ability to implement automation to reduce manual administrative tasks through use of jobs, scripts, cron, or other techniquesExperience with configuration management tools: SCCM; Puppet; or Ansible.You willBe part of an on-call rotation providing 24x7x365 incident and outage response, including non-business hours changesPerform initial investigation and/or troubleshooting of database and database system issues to resolve issue & determine root causeProcess all support requests within SLA by following procedural requirementsEscalate to vendors, where necessary, to ensure timely resolutionThoroughly document steps taken to resolve incidents and fulfil catalog requests within ServiceNow ticketsDevelop, document, and update standard operating procedures and knowledgebase articlesIdentify, address, and resolve repeating alert trends to improve stability and performanceSuggest defects and product/infrastructure enhancements to improve stability and automationParticipation in periodic skills enhancement sessions and training coursesBe a project lead, as well as a project participant for various activities: cloud migration, lifecycle management, application modernization, capacity planning, financial optimization, performance, and stability optimization, build and design state configuration automation, etc.The Database Service is scheduled to work Monday through Friday 8:00 AM ET till 5:00 PM ET. Today we are working 3-days remote and 2-days in the office. We operate on a 24x7x365 using an on-call rotation which the candidate will be a part of. Our India-based staff starts at 2:30 AM ET and US-based staff covers until 5:00 PM ET. On-call is 5:00 PM ET until 2:30 AM ET Monday through Thursday and Friday 5:00 PM ET until Sunday 2:30 AM ET.Salary Range$114,080.00 - $187,415.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
